(AMFF)

Our Mission

Moon——6.png

The Art of Mindfulness Foundation is rooted in compassion and serves as a non-religious platform to support the inner growth of university students through mindfulness and contemplative practices, dialogues, and research. With a holistic approach towards understanding and cultivating mindfulness, we strive to create a co-learning community in the search of clarity, peace and transcendence of life experiences. Our practices, dialogues, and research draw from Zen philosophy, and other schools of practices that uphold compassion as their core wisdom.

Openness

Our openness comes from knowing that there are countless paths to mindfulness.  Since there is no fixed path, we embrace and celebrate mindfulness as experienced in a rich array of life experiences. We aspire to offer a diversity of mindfulness practices, both comtemplative and active, and seek to create an environment that is accessible for all.

Values and Norms

Compassion, the core of Buhhdaharma and Chinese Zen philosophy,  guides each of our steps, and our relationship with oursevles, our community members, and the larger world. We hold ourselves accountable in compassion to one another, our community, and the planet we are residing in.

Compassionate Accountability

1

The core of Chinese Zen and its practice with meditation rises above any specific school of philosohy or theology. We strive to stay open in order to see its richess, depth, and truth in its holistic representations in art, science, and philosophy.

Openness

3

We provide ourselves and each other the immense gift of intuitive listening so we are truely present with self and one another in Zen.

Intuitive Listening

5

The simplicity of compassion, Zen and truth inspires us to create accessibility in what we do so that none of the philosophy, research, practice around them are unattainable to the less privileged.

Accessibility

2

We hold the space of nonjudgement and radical acceptance for our learning, practice, and in our community. We suspend doubts and put our belief in each other to listen, speak, act and grow with wisdom and compassion.

Nonjudgmental and Radical Acceptance

Land Acknowlegement

AMFF is located on and making use of the colonized homelands of the Mashpee Wampanoag, Massachusett, Mishawum, Naumkeag, and Pawtucket peoples. We acknowledge and continue to learn about these indigenous communities’s culture, heritage, population, and lives. We bow to the peoples that stewarded, for hundreds of generations, this land on which we now gather. We recognized that the stewardship and strong bonding between these peoples and the land we are now on is still ongoing. We are committed to respecting, lifting up their voices and cultural heritage, as well as building mutually supportive relationships with these indigenous communities in and beyond Cambridge.

Commitment to Diversity

We are open to all, and we welcome people of all beliefs and backgrounds.

Compassion

Our compassion comes from the simple truth that we are all interconnected and part of oneness.  We choose to be compassionate to ourselves, one another, our community, and the world we reside in.

Non-Judgment

Our non-judgment comes from the practice of bringing awareness to our judgment.  We choose to respond with compassion rather than remain in judgment.

Awareness

Our awareness comes from mindfulness practices where we begin to go beyond the reality of our thoughts and emotions to see ourselves and others as the innately capable and compassionate people as we all are.  With clarity in awareness, we could better navigate the challenges we face, and explore life in its original simple and magnificant state, and as truthfully as we can.
